How to Prevent Mobile Phone Spam?

Register your telephone with the National US Do Not Call Registry to avoid receiving unwanted marketing calls.

Have you ever been disrupted by a call from a telemarketer when you are reading a book, watching TV or late in the night when you are sleeping?

When yes, you’re not alone.

Your first step to stop this annoyance is to register your number with the FCC's Do-Not-Call Registry.

When you've registered callers may only call you when they
- have established a business relationship with you,
- have you prior written permission,
- do not call commercially or do not include unsolicited advertisements.

Everyone may register their residential and wireless telephone, by telephone or by Internet for free.

In addition to the Do-Not-Call Registry the caller id may also reduce the number of unwanted calls to your telephone.

With the caller id you should know when a marketer is calling you: marketers must transmit caller id and do not allowed to block their numbers.

When you register your telephone number with the FCC unsolicited telephone calls to your home before 8 am or after 9 pm are not allowed.
Callers have to provide you with these additional information which will also decreased unwanted calls to your telephone:
- The Caller also must give you the name of the entity on whose behalf the call is being made.
- A telephone number or address at which you may contact that entity.
- Anyone making a telephone solicitation call to your telephone must provide his/her name.

You can register your telephone number for free. Your telephone number will remain for five years on the national do-not-call list. You may re-enter your number after five years, and you may remove your telephone number from the list at any time.
